Özet:
STRESS is a general purpose programming system for the analysis of structures. Compared to most other structural programs it has three distinguishing characteristics: (1) The input language is that of the structural engineer which makes possible direct communication between the engineer and the machine; (2) The system is capable of analyzing a wide variety of structural types and loading conditions thus permitting industrial use on a routine basis; and (3) The design process is expedited by the fact that modifications of the original structure for alternate designs can be easily executed. This last capability is most effectice when STRESS is used in the time-sharing mode. These features combine to provide a system which not only reduces the effort required for structural analysis but, more significantly, enhances the designer's ability to evolve an efficient structure.
