This book can be considered as a ‘retrospective work’, which summarizes the debates that have taken place in İzmir Culture Workshop in 2009. One of the most important points underlined in the debates was to make İzmir a part of the network of Mediterranean cities. The other was formation of a ‘City Academy’ to improve the city’s contribution to the production of theoretical and practical knowledge through activities of research, education and practice in social sciences and visual arts.
